Dr. Sayaka Uematsu was born in Japan and grew up living in Japan, the UK, and Australia. She graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Following graduation, she worked in a busy mixed practice in Tasmania before completing a small animal internal medicine internship at Murdoch University. She went on to undertake a residency in small animal internal medicine at Oregon State University, becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Dr. Uematsu is particularly drawn to the complex clinical reasoning and problem-solving involved in internal medicine. Her clinical interests include renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, immune-mediated, infectious, and hematologic diseases. She values building long-term relationships with clients and supporting continuity of care for her patients.

Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, surfing, kendo, hiking, and exploring food. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and shares her home with her cat, Smokey Sammich, and her Australian Kelpie, Womble.
