Dr. Tara Stonex received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school, she worked in the Retinal Disease Studies Facility, where the first FDA-approved gene therapy treatment was developed. She completed a small animal rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City and an ophthalmology internship at Animal Eye Guys in Miami before completing an ophthalmology residency at North Carolina State University. She has a special interest in retinal diseases, cataract surgery, and glaucoma valve surgery. Outside of work she enjoys spending time at the beach surfing and stand up paddleboarding. Dr. Stonex has a maltese/papillon mix that she adopted last year with her partner. Dr. Stonex is in the office and available for consultation Monday through Thursday each week.
