We are in search of an emergency veterinarian to join our specialty and 24-hour emergency hospital. The ideal candidate is friendly, honest, helpful and communicates effectively with their team. We encourage growth and innovation and have a brand-new facility with cutting-edge equipment (Siemens Sensation CT Machine, GE Fluoroscopy Unit, Brand-New U/S Machine, Digital Endoscopy Station, MRI) to support our doctors. We are looking for a candidate who has completed a rotating internship, is comfortable with a high-volume caseload, and is comfortable in the emergency department setting.

Nutrition Department Coordinator

Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital is a 24-Hour specialty and emergency animal hospital located in the heart of Hollywood, California. We are looking for friendly, qualified nutrition department coordinator to join our emergency and critical care department team. MASH is a brand-new specialty and emergency animal hospital. We offer specialty and emergency veterinary services and have specialty veterinarians in surgery, internal medicine, oncology, nutrition, dentistry, dermatology and Emergency and Critical Care. MASH is a newly constructed hospital housing new surgery suites, appointment rooms, treatment areas, and state-of-the-art equipment. MASH is eager to provide the Hollywood and surrounding Los Angeles community with the highest quality specialty and emergency veterinary medicine.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of veterinary experience. The nutrition department coordinator wears many hats from doctor’s assistant, to technician assistant. The nutrition department coordinator is responsible to communicating with clients and being knowledgeable of the nutritionist’s recommendations.

Administrative Duties

· A nutrition department coordinator is responsible for streamlining nutrition service department operations. File documentation requires basic typing skills, a fundamental knowledge of the alphabet, thoroughness and neatness. Emergency department doctor’s assistants are also in charge of filling prescriptions. Attention to detail is imperative when filling prescriptions, as it is the coordinators responsibility to ensure the correct prescription is filled.

Client Relations

· Client satisfaction allows our clients to set the standard for all aspects of their care. Whatever a client needs, we provide to the best of our abilities, and the ability to anticipate needs is paramount.

· Client Relations also includes, but is not limited to:

o medical call-backs,

o calling clients to inform them of basic radiology/lab results,

o creating and presenting doctor approved treatment plans to clients,

o ensuring the treatment plans are signed with a proper code of resuscitation and making sure it is given to reception to scan into the patient’s file.

o Doctor’s assistants must also ensure patient discharge instructions are signed by the client and given to reception to scan into the patient’s file.

Typical Responsibilities:

· Client communication

· Assisting the nutritionist with physical exams

· Performing diagnostic lab work for patients

· Sending out samples to the diagnostic laboratories

· Going over diets and plans with clients over the phone.

Requirements:

· 3-5 Years of veterinary experience (specialty experience is a plus)

· Excellent organizational, analytical and customer service skills.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient with MS Word and Excel.

Candidates should be able to work under busy schedules and close quarters. Candidates should also be comfortable discussing medications, treatments, and estimates with clients, as well as following up with their inquiries. Candidates should be professional, friendly, courteous, and be able to multi-task. Candidates should have good computer and organizational skills, with knowledge of Cornerstone a big plus. The oncology department’s schedule is Wednesday – Saturday, with working Saturdays a must.
