Emergency/Critical Care Veterinary Technician

Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital (MASH) is a new 24-Hour specialty and emergency animal hospital located in the heart of Hollywood, California. We are looking for friendly, qualified veterinary technicians to join our emergency and critical care department team. We offer an emergency and critical care service as well as internal medicine and surgery. MASH is a newly constructed hospital housing new surgery suites, appointment rooms, treatment areas, and state-of-the-art equipment. MASH is eager to provide the Hollywood and surrounding Los Angeles community with the highest quality specialty and emergency and critical care veterinary medicine. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of veterinary technician experience. Credentialed veterinary technicians and those pursuing their VTS are encouraged to apply. Mentoring and support during your VTS application will be available. Candidates should be friendly, courteous, and able to multi-task. Team players, who take initiative with their position, and are compassionate with our patients and clients are required. Technicians are expected to follow the directions and guidance of our veterinarians. Candidates should be able to communicate clearly and effectively with our clients.

  • patient restraint (including felines) for ultrasound, radiographs, venipuncture
  • Medically able to take radiographs (no medical condition barring them from radiology)
  • Physically able and WILLING TO lift up to 40 lbs.

Dermatology Department Veterinary Technician

We offer specialty and emergency veterinary services and have specialty veterinarians in oncology, nutrition, surgery, internal medicine, dermatology and emergency and critical care. MASH is a newly constructed hospital housing new surgery suites, appointment rooms, treatment areas, and state-of-the-art equipment. MASH is eager to provide the Hollywood and surrounding Los Angeles community with the highest quality specialty and emergency veterinary medicine.

The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of veterinary assistant experience. We are looking for candidates with a can-do attitude and a willingness to grow and learn. We are seeking technicians and assistants who pay attention to detail, are well organized and friendly to others.

Veterinary Technician- Oncology

We are looking for a friendly, qualified veterinary technician to join our internal medicine team. MASH is a new specialty and emergency animal hospital that opened in 2017. We offer specialty and emergency veterinary services and have specialty veterinarians in oncology, dentistry, nutrition, surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency and critical care. MASH is a newly-constructed hospital housing new surgery suites, appointment rooms, treatment areas, and state-of-the-art equipment. MASH is eager to provide the Hollywood and surrounding Los Angeles community with the highest quality specialty and emergency veterinary medicine.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of veterinary technician experience with oncology or internal medicine experience a plus. Candidates should be able to work under busy schedules and close quarters. Candidates should also be comfortable discussing medications, treatments, and estimates with clients, as well as following up with their inquiries. Candidates should be professional, friendly, courteous, and be able to multi-task. Candidates should have good computer and organizational skills, with knowledge of Cornerstone a big plus. The oncology department’s schedule is Wednesday – Saturday, with working Saturdays a must.

  • Medically able to safely handle chemotherapy drugs.
  • Physically able and WILLING TO lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Working Saturdays is a must, as well as being able to work overtime on occasion.
  • Cleaning the department / laundry
  • Know normal vital signs and basic anatomy of canines and felines
  • Able to work in close quarters
  • Confident communication skills with clients and coworkers
  • pharmacology knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Stocking and cleaning the department
  • assisting doctor with physical exams and assessments.
  • Administration of chemotherapy using USP 800 compliant methods
  • Creating and presenting estimates and protocols of clients from doctor’s plan
  • Work with Department Manager in developing SOPs for safe handling and administration of chemotherapy drugs
  • Assisting clients with questions about their pets: prescriptions, side effects, chemotherapy protocols, and estimates.

Willing to learn

  • Monitoring anesthesia
  • Running a CT scan
  • Running in-house lab equipment
  • Administration of chemotherapy
  • Oncology terms, chemotherapy facts, and nature of the diseases.
