Emergency situations involving your pet can be a very stressful time for both you and your pet. We apologize if you have to wait. This information should help you understand what is happening and how we handle emergency situations.
If You Think You Are Having an Emergency, Bring Your Pet In!
If your pet is experiencing major bleeding, difficulty breathing, seizures, unresponsiveness, severe trauma (such as being dropped, kicked, crushed, or run over), collapse, or other urgent signs like blood in urine, bloating, snake bites, or fluid around the heart or lungs, bring them to the nearest 24/7 emergency hospital right away.
How Our Emergency Triage Works
At MASH, we use a color-coded triage system to prioritize pets based on urgency. This helps us quickly identify those needing immediate care. We may ask about your pet’s symptoms to assess urgency. Please understand that less urgent cases may experience longer wait times. Review Our Triage System Here!
Poisoning or Toxic Exposure
If your pet has ingested something toxic, call the ASPCA Poison Hotline at (888) 426-4435 immediately. Follow their guidance and inform us if you are coming in—provide your case number if available.
What to Expect When You Arrive
We will examine your pet promptly to determine the best course of care. Wait times for non-critical cases may vary depending on the number of emergencies. Please be patient as we prioritize pets in greatest need.
